Hello, everybody. Welcome to Episode 004 of the Master Sales Funnels Podcast.
Today, I wanted to talk a little bit about finding your why.
You need a good driving force in business.
Last time we talked about having your focus, and you can be focused on one particular thing, but if you don’t have a why that’s driving you to complete your goals through that focus, then you’re not going to have the motivation to get to your goals, to keep going to push through the parts of business that aren’t that fun, because there’s a lot of things that are a drag.
You’re on a constant cycle of creating content, of sharing content, of trying to get leads, building funnels. And I mean, there are times when you get to the point where you’re just like, “Why am I doing this still?”.
My why has been becoming more and more apparent lately as I’m gaining focus in my business. I feel like still having a full time job as I’m building out this business, which isn’t any different than usual, because I’ve had jobs through trying to build other businesses.
But this time my focus is bringing clarity to my work and what’s happening is I’m seeing how being so busy is affecting my children.
I mean, I’m just going to a daily job, but it almost feels like my daughter has a father abandonment issue. I can’t be the only one out there that has that issue with their kids because she isn’t happy when I’m leaving for work.
She sees I’m going to work. I worked from home because of pandemic for a couple of months. And she got used to that. And I kind of got used to it. And then all of a sudden I had to go back to the office and now they just miss me all day and I miss them.
And I know if I was working from home, I’d still have to be working. But, you know, at least I could be there to help my wife out in taking care of them during the day. And we could hang out a little bit over a lunch break.
That’s what we did when I was home during the pandemic. I know the name of this episode is a little weird, so let me explain that it was probably my lowest point in dealing with having to leave my kids every day to go to a job and work for somebody else.
My wife and I had just been on our 5th wedding anniversary trip. We went to stay in a cabin and we left the kids with the grandparents for a couple of days.
But that took my whole weekend. I worked all week. We left on a Friday and we dropped them off at the grandparents and we took off to our cabin and.
So I didn’t get to see my kids much that week because I wasn’t home during the week and I left all weekend to have a nice trip with my wife, and I shouldn’t have to feel guilty about that.
But guess what?
Monday morning came around and, obviously I work in an office so I wear a certain outfit to work that I don’t wear around the house. Dress shirt, dress pants.
And my daughter’s gotten used to that since I’ve gone back to the office. So the Monday after our trip, I wake up, and my daughter wakes up with me a lot, and when she woke up, she just looked at me and she said, “Daddy, take your clothes off”.
She saw that I was in my work outfit with the dress shirt and the dress pants, and she was just devastated that I had to leave. She hadn’t seen me all weekend and she hadn’t seen me all week, and she wasn’t going to see me all week again.
It’s just heartbreaking what we have to go through in order to make money to make a living. Especially when we’re not doing what we’re passionate about, we’re not doing what drives us.
You need to find your “why” in business. Mine is to be able to be home with my family, to have that financial freedom to gain that right to be able to stay home and spend more time with my family.
I mean, I don’t want to spend 40 plus hours a week, including commute, away from my family because I’m making money for someone else.
I mean, it’s honestly the best job I’ve ever had, but it’s still a job. Part of the reason I started this podcast now, while I still have a job, is because I want to show you that it’s possible to get out of this situation.
If I waited until I had success, you couldn’t really relate to this story, but as I’m going, I want to encourage people that there is a way out.
You have to have drive. You have to have focus. You have to find your why.
And honestly, you have to educate yourself. You have to become passionate and learn everything there is to learn about what you need to get out of your current situation.
I think funnels are a big proponent of that, especially lead funnels, because every business needs leads. And if you have a good lead funnel, you’re going to be able to drive those people to your business. You’re going to have an email list that you’ll be able to email to help build your business.
And you need that asset. Russell Brunson has always said that your email list is what your business is. So I would suggest learning everything that you can about lead funnels in order to build that business that you’re passionate about.
In order to meet your goals. In order to get out of that job that you don’t want to go to. In order to spend time with your family.
Whatever your why is. Getting leads to what you are doing, getting people to see and opt in and be interested in giving you money for what you are doing, that’s the lifeblood of the business.
And that’s why I’m going to focus so much on this podcast and on my blog and on my website about lead funnels, because that’s the first step.
That’s your first mission is to master lead funnels.
And it’s going to change my life. It’s going to change your life. And we’ll see how it goes along the journey, even with me. We need to take that first step. It’s going to seem like a long slog and a long drag.
And like I said, you need your why to get you through all the hard times.
